DISCOVER TRUE WAR HERITAGE AT THE ROYAL MUSEUM OF THE ARMED FORCES AND MILITARY HISTORY

For this educational visit, participants are met at the SQUARE Convention Centre by a guide. They walk through the city to the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History. The collections here illustrate ten centuries of military history and techniques, from medieval armour to modern aeroplanes and tanks, as well as valuable firearms and finely worked bladed weapons. The military uniforms and headwear reflect the evolution of military science and the influence of civilian fashion on Belgian and foreign armies.

The history of Belgium is never far away: the periods under Austrian, French and Dutch rule, the independence of Belgium and the military policy of the new kingdom, the history of our royal family, and the major world conflicts are all addressed. Paintings, sculptures, badges of honour and medals tell their stories to take us back in time.

Today, the Royal Museum of the Armed Forces and Military History consists of no less than five huge exhibition halls with a total area of approximately 40,000 m2. The architecture and the atmosphere are unique. From the Historic Hall with its presentations of times long since passed to the Bordiauhal with its modern museology: when you’re walking through the museum, you’ll not just discover collections that evolve, but also new ones. In collaboration and close consultation with the Ministry of Defence, we can make the necessary arrangements to entrance tickets and vouchers.
